A Hazy Imperial IPA is what happens when you take all the juicy, fruit-forward goodness of a Hazy IPA and crank up the intensity. It’s bigger, bolder, and packs a stronger punch—usually landing at 8% ABV or higher. Think of it as a Hazy IPA on overdrive, loaded with hops that bring massive tropical, citrusy flavors, all wrapped in that signature pillowy haze.
Our Big Little Thing Hazy Imperial IPA has a lofty 9.5% ABV “but a light mouthfeel, a light body,” says James Conery, our Innovation Brewmaster. “It’s not sharp; it’s easy to drink.” And the hop-driven flavor spans citrus to berries. “I get a lot of juicy, candied orange,” says James. “A little bit of peach rings thrown in there too.”
Imperial vs. Hazy IPA—What’s the Difference?
A Hazy IPA is all about juicy hop character, silky mouthfeel, and minimal bitterness. The haze comes from careful brewing techniques that keep hop oils and grain proteins in suspension, giving the beer a cloudy look and a full-bodied taste.
An Imperial IPA, which can also be called a Double IPA (DIPA), amplifies it all—bigger hops, bigger malt backbone, and definitely bigger ABV (usually 8% or more). The flavors are intense, with hop bitterness balanced by a slightly sweeter malt presence.
A Hazy Imperial IPA? That’s the best of both worlds. It’s got the full-throttle hop power of an Imperial IPA but smooths it out with the juicy, tropical character of a Hazy. It’s bold, it’s hazy, and it’s built for hop lovers who want to go all in.
